2010 TO DO LIST

1. Enroll for Masters. The working world has been piling up applicants for junks and I refuse to be left behind stinking in the working world’s trash bin. Hence, standards for competitiveness must be satisfied. And, oh school, I’m so excited to be back under your motherly care though I know I need to be more serious this time.

2. Find a Stable Job. More than anything else, I know for a fact that I’m not getting any younger and finding a niche is a must. It should be a working place where I can mature intellectually, grow socially and prosper financially… hehehe…

3. Be Relatively Independent. Financial independence is just one of my goals but total independence is another thing. In as far as my parents are still here, I still want to keep a healthy degree of submissiveness. For all I know, they may be outdated and may find it hard to understand our generation, but still, they only want what’s best for us.

4. Improve My Body Physique. A healthy body entails a thousand benefits. Needless to say, it can also satisfy my narcissist tendencies and a burning desire to look like a Chinese Greek god... (for a change) nyahaha...

5. Write my second novel and aspire for publication this time. I have written an amateur one before... Unfortunately, I lost the manuscript. I intend to write professionally now and offer it to the persons who have inspired me a lot… nyahahaha...

6. Have a photoshoot scheduled... If there's one thing that would easily pass through time, that would be a person's youth and looks, so I'd rather keep some souvenirs... hahaha...

7. TRAVEL. For so many years, I’ve stocked myself in the confines of Cordillera down to the fourth region (Palawan excluded). I’ve been in Mindoro once but I know there’s more to discover… Whether it’s inside the country or outside its premises, I’m in for the adventure this year.

8. Have a best bud. I must admit that I have never kept a best friend for years. Maybe because I’m afraid that I would be so vulnerable in knowing that another person is co-existing to be my walking diary. If it takes a lot of courage to be friendly yet to keep distant, it is also an act of bravado to expose ourselves into a check and balance.

9. Be serious with lots of things this time. Yes, life is not all work and no play but it is also not all play and no work. Striking a healthy balance is essential and I know I have intentionally forgotten the rule just for the sake of fun. Uh-oh… *wink.

10. Renew my relationship with God. I know that in the end all would be nothing without Him. Keeping the faith in this world is a real challenge but I’m up to restore myself in Him. He has done remarkable things for me in the past. Let this year be a year of thanksgiving and a sign that I will be forever gracious.

POPPERS and SHOCKERS: Five Zeniths that You’ll Surely Remember in 2009

Using the word “shocks” may have been a blatant crime in the men’s world. But listed herein are five trademarks of 2009 that have absolutely caused the majority of the thinking population exclaim the forbidden word in different tones.

Towering at the first spot is the death of Former President Corazon Aquino. Considered as the mother of Philippine Democracy, Mrs. Aquino’s earthly departure has headed to major changes in the numbers game in politics. Also, it has been the reason why some supposed presidentiables opted to slide down for the VP race instead. The then clueless Noy-Noy is about to say yes and give in to the clamor of people as presented by statistics and of course, intensity of emotions coated by the battle cry of nationalism. And whether the yellow fever would last? Only year 2010 knows.

Next in line is the seemingly erratic conspiracy between typhoons, Ondoy and Pepeng, which has undeniably devastated major parts of Luzon and freeing not even the Metro. Burdening many lives including the life of FHM’s sexiest, Christine Reyes, environmentalists insist that it is nature’s own way to warn us of what is to come if we are not going to stop our exploits. Should it mean then that we now need to stop using rubbers to support the campaign? I think not. I hope not. Anyhow, population control is a major player in environmental protection.

2009 has lots of showbiz death in tow but Michael Jackson’s has really been a shocker. The 50 year old singer/dancer/performer’s death due to cardiac arrest last June 25 held the whole world watching and wondering. And as any MJ fan would say, his music will live forever. And sure it proved a notch after the docu-film created in memory of the deceased Pop Icon dances its way to number 1 spot worldwide early this November.

Know that the year would never be complete without Super Pacman. Amidst controversies of his supposed linkage with FHM Babe, Krista, rises another proof that the Pambansang Kamao is really superb in the boxing arena. Garnering his 7th boxing title, FHM Champ and Idol Manny Pacquiao has proved his worth as the World’s Pound for Pound Boxer. Armed with Bravado and Skills, his last fight that has toppled down Miguel Cotto has made Manny Pacquiao one of the most substantial citizens of this country ever. Hail once more to the Pinoy Champ! Congressman or not, Manny will always remain to be the Ultimate Pinoy Idol for 2009.

I know, I know. This last one would cause an uprising. New Moon is out in theaters and you are trying your best to present not-so-lame excuses for not allowing yourself to be dragged by your Cullen-obsessed girlfriend for the second time. But before you finally succumb to her caprice with your hands all fettered by hers and enter the dark theater full of humans aspiring to mingle with vampires and werewolves, admit it, chick-flick as it is, the “Twilight Fever” is yet another turning point in the movie industry and is expected to break records and be a blockbuster hit for this year.

I Refuse to Die

I'm just pretty sure that I'm really human... (I'm not so sure before somebody had maliciously said at my back that I'm a jerk)... At least, it has become an affirmation of my humanity... Well, if that person will have the chance to read this,... I guess it's not that proper to dismiss the case by calling it quits because I haven't done anything wrong and I just kept my silence all this time thinking it would be fair... But knowing this, I just realized that it's not fair for me... Watch out... Good fruit-bearing trees are stoned to death... But I refuse to die...

Exhausted...

.... when everything is messed up
and I got only one thing left to do...
but the problem is I'm exhausted.
You can't blame me if I got tired of you.
